Job Description

The Bethel Centre
The Bethel Centre provides support for individuals who have experienced hurt and abuse through their participation in the life of the Uniting Church in Victoria and Tasmania.  The Centre activities are guided by the Bethel Committee who represent ministers, congregations and presbytery. The Committee oversees and advises the Coordinator on the Bethel Centre’s discretion and independence.

About the Role
The Coordinator ensures timely and professional provision of counselling services. The role coordinates a small team, prepares and presents reports, provides individual counselling, makes referrals, conducts client assessments and facilitates group education sessions.  The role ensures Bethel counsellors and the Officer Administrator are effectively deployed and that their own supervision and professional accreditations are in place.   The Coordinator liaises with a broad range of stakeholders across the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania and works collaboratively to further resolution and healing in response to issues of harm and abuse.  For a more detailed description of the responsibilities of the role, please see the position description.

This is an ongoing position based in North Balwyn, Melbourne.  It is a part-time position of 0.6 FTE.

About You
We are looking for someone who has:
•    Bachelor’s degree in counselling, social work, psychology or a related field
•    Eligibility for professional association membership
•    At least 4 years’ experience in a similar role
•    Understanding of trauma informed practice and working with offenders

The successful candidate will:
•    Have a Working with Children Check
•    Have the right to work in Australia
•    Undergo a National Criminal History Check before commencement
